Elliott Statement on New Executive Orders Targeting Birthright Citizenship

Hamden, CT — State Rep. Josh Elliott (D-Hamden), candidate for governor, released the following statement after President Trump issued two new executive orders attempting to undermine the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship:

“President Trump has once again chosen to use the power of his office to attack children, families, and communities across this country. These executive orders are not about making America stronger, they are about creating fear, dividing people, and distracting from the real challenges facing working families. This administration continues to target immigrant communities, sowing fear and ripping families apart. 

“As your Governor, I will make sure that Connecticut stands with every child in the state regardless of their immigration status and will use everything in my power to stop these orders from taking effect.”
