Elliott Responds to Escalating ICE Violence and Murders in Texas, Maine
Hamden, CT – State Rep. Josh Elliott, candidate for Governor, released the following statement after ICE agents shot and killed two people in Houston, TX and Biddeford, ME:
“Just days after ICE murdered 52-year-old father, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, in Houston, they shot and killed a 26-year-old man in Maine who was authorized to work in the U.S. My heart breaks for the communities that are grieving. We all deserve to live free from fear and the out-of-control escalation in violence that these agents instill.
“With Trump’s mandates, Federal immigration agents have shot at least 22 people within the past year, and at least 52 have died in custody during this presidential term. Our state continues to deal with administration-sanctioned terror unleashed on Connecticut, and now another family has been devastated. Congress must take decisive action and not just rein in ICE, but abolish it. Our message to Trump and ICE is clear – get out of our communities. Get out of our state.”
